Terms & Conditions



1.     Yorebridge Sport and Fitness (YSF) is the corporate brand and is owned & managed by Yorebridge Sports Development Association Ltd (YSDA Ltd).

2.     If a member wishes to change to a different category of membership they may be asked to pay the appropriate administration fees (see fees policy).

3.     Premier and Premier Plus Membership is for an initial minimum 6 or 12 month period (the ‘commitment period’), whether paying in monthly instalments or in advance. This is a binding contractual agreement between the member and the ‘YSF’.  The ‘commitment period’ commences on the 1st of the month following induction. We will write to you as your contract is coming to the end of the commitment period. If we do not hear from you, in writing, we will automatically renew you contract.

4.     Monthly Membership is for an initial minimum 1month period (the ‘commitment period’), whether paying in monthly instalments or in advance. This is a binding contractual agreement between the member and the ‘YSF’.  This ‘commitment period’ commences immediately following an induction and acceptance of membership. It is the members responsibility to inform us, with one months notice, that they wish to terminate or suspend their membership.If we do not hear from you in writing (email or text message is accepted as notice) we will continually roll over your membership on a month by month basis, until such notice is given by the member.

5.     Members must pay a joining fee when signing up as a member. This is a one-off non-refundable payment (unless membership lapses for a period of 3 months or more when an administration charge may become payable) (see fees policy).

6.     Monthly fees are payable in advance on the first day of every month. Members are responsible for all monthly payments and charges accrued on their account including all late fees, for the full term of their ‘commitment period’ (see fees policy).

7.     New members must have an induction before they are allowed to use the gym. This should take no longer than 1 hour (dependant upon experience) and should be booked through the main reception/office. Satisfactory completion of induction does not imply any responsibility taken by the ‘YSF’. Returning members may also need to attend a refresher induction. Regular support is available together with fitness plan reviews, it is advisable to book an appointment in advance for this service.

8.     Members use the facilities at their own risk and it is recommended that all members seek medical advice from their G.P. before embarking on a fitness programme (See self-declaration for participation below).

9.     It is agreed that all exercises and use of all facilities shall be undertaken at the member's own risk. The member must acknowledge that s/he is physically able to undertake all physical exercise programmes and that the ‘YSF’ shall not be liable for any claims, demands, injuries, damages, whatsoever (See self-declaration for participation below).

10.  All members will have a membership profile on ClubRight, the ‘YSF’ reserves the right to refuse admission if an up-to-date membership is not held.

11.  Members are required to sign into and out of the premises.

12.  The ‘YSF’ reserves the right to review fees periodically. However, if a member is under contract, fees cannot be changed until the current contract expires, unless it is of benefit to the member, i.e. the membership price is reduced. Members will be given at least one month’s written notice for changes to fees (see fees policy).

13.  The ‘YSF’ reserves the right to close the facilities with or without notice for any length of time, for any reason including but not limiting to maintenance or any other unforeseen circumstance.

14.  If any member, misuses the facilities or equipment, causes nuisance to other members, staff or volunteers, or are in breach of the policies, the ‘YSF’ reserves the right to refuse admission to the gym or fitness classes. Further action may be taken including termination of the member’s contract. The member will be invited to meet with the ‘YSF’ to offer an explanation of their behaviour, with the final decision lying with the ‘YSF’ Management Committee (see complaints and disciplinary policy). 

15.  In certain circumstances one calendar month’s written notice may be given by the member for termination of their membership, i.e. illness, injury.  This will be duly considered by Directors and a written decision given. Fees for this month are also due but may be refunded or transferred at the discretion of the ‘YSF’.

16.  Should your personal details or circumstances change it is your responsibility to inform the YSF in writing.

17.  The ‘YSF’ reserves the right to amend the above conditions and policies at any time. Should any amendment be made before the end of the ‘commitment period’ the member has the power to appeal against the decision (see Appeals Policy). 

18.  Juniors aged between 11 and 13 years may attend providing they are supervised at all times by a ‘responsible’ adult. The gym operates unsupervised for anyone over the age of 14; however, this is subject to change without prior notice.
Parents / carers are required to attend the induction for anyone between the ages of 11 and 17 years.

19.  All Policies and Terms & Conditions will be displayed on the premises and copies of policies will be available upon request.


Self-Declaration of Participation:

1.     PURPOSE AND EXPLANATION OF PROCEDURE

I hereby consent to voluntarily engage in an acceptable plan of fitness training and exercise. I also give consent to taking part in fitness training sessions and activities that have been recommended to me for improvement of my diet, stress and health, and fitness education activities. The levels of exercise I will perform will be based upon my current levels of cardiovascular (heart and lungs) and muscular fitness. I understand that a graded exercise readiness assessment may be carried out in order to evaluate and assess my current level of fitness.

 

I will be given personal instruction regarding the amount and kind of exercise I should do. A professionally trained fitness instructor will provide leadership to direct my activities, monitor my performance, and other evaluates my effort.  I understand that I should attend recommended sessions and to follow staff instructions with regard to exercise, health and safety. I have completed the health questionnaire and agree to inform the exercise professional and representative of Yorebridge promptly of any changes which my doctor or other health professional has informed me of. I will be given the opportunity for periodic reassessment and evaluation during the program.

 

I have been informed that whilst carry out recommended exercise I will complete these physical activities unless symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, chest discomfort or similar occurrences appear. A this point, I have been advised that it is my complete right to decrease or stop exercise and that it is my obligation to inform the fitness professional or member of Yorebridge staff of my symptoms, should they develop.

 

I understand that during the performance of exercise the fitness professional or Yorebridge representative will periodically monitor my performance, assess my level of effort for the purposes of monitoring my exercise intensity. I understand that the fitness professional may reduce or stop my exercise if my response or effort levels indicate that I should do so for my safety and benefit

 

 

2.     RISKS

It is my understanding and I have been informed that there exists the remote possibility during exercise of adverse changes including, but not limited to, abnormal blood pressure, fainting, dizziness, and disorder of heart rhythm, and in very rare instances heart attack, stroke, or even death. I further understand and I have been informed that there exists the risk of bodily injury including, but not limited to, injuries to muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints of the body. Every effort, I have been told, will be made to minimize these occurrences by proper staff assessment of my condition before each training session, staff supervision during class and 1-1 sessions and when exercising on my own in the gym by my own careful control of exercise efforts. I fully understand the risks associated with exercise, detailed above, but knowing these risks, it is my desire to participate as herein indicated.

 

3.     BENEFITS TO BE EXPECTED AND ALTERNATIVE AVAILABLE TO EXERCISE

I understand that this program, class and gym membership may or may not benefit my physical fitness or general health. I recognize that involvement in physical exercise will allow me to learn proper ways to perform conditioning exercises, use fitness equipment and regulate physical effort. These experiences should benefit me by indicating how my physical limitations may affect my ability to perform various physical activities. I further understand that if I follow the program and/or attend classes, that I will likely improve my exercise capacity and fitness levels after a period of 12 weeks or more.
